Seychelles has no shortage of hotels where the pool is private, the beach is almost empty and getting there involves a small plane.

But the luxury hotels in Seychelles are not all built around that same idea.

You can stay at a large beachfront resort on Mahé, a refined hideaway on Praslin, a small boutique hotel on La Digue or a private island where the resort is the destination.

We have stayed at several of these hotels in Seychelles ourselves and, while researching this guide, also looked closely at the luxury properties we would love to try if our bank account ever gets a tropical upgrade.

We have selected the best ones below for their setting, facilities and the kind of holiday they suit.

Which Seychelles island is best for a luxury holiday?

Mahé has the widest choice of luxury hotels in Seychelles.

It’s the easiest island for short stays, and the selection runs from the full-service resorts at Beau Vallon to private-pool villas along the quieter south and west coasts.

Praslin pairs the best beaches with traditional resort luxury.

Constance Lemuria, Raffles and Le Chateau de Feuilles all feel special in different ways, while Acajou and Coco de Mer Hotel (adlinks) offer a more attainable step up.

La Digue is about smaller hotels and the island itself.

Do not come expecting the same choice of five-star resorts. Come for bicycles, beach days and boutique stays that keep you close to everyday island life.

Private islands and Silhouette work best when the resort is the holiday.

Transfers cost more and popping out for a local dinner is generally not part of the plan, but the privacy and natural setting can be difficult to match.

Tips for booking a luxury hotel in Seychelles

Book early if you have your eye on a particular villa type, a small boutique hotel or dates around July, August, Christmas or New Year.

Seychelles has plenty of expensive rooms, but fewer that offer the exact combination of beach, location, privacy and price you are after.

Leaving it late can mean choosing between a much bigger bill and a hotel that does not quite fit the trip.

Before booking, look beyond the headline rate.

A luxury stay can look expensive enough already, so the last thing you want is a collection of mandatory extras appearing at checkout.

Check the full price breakdown and ask the hotel to confirm anything unclear.

Here are a few other things worth checking before you book a luxury hotel in Seychelles:

Minimum stays and festive supplements

Some luxury hotels require a minimum stay during busy periods, particularly around Christmas and New Year.

If a hotel appears unavailable for your dates, try adding a night before giving up completely.

Compulsory Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve dinners are also common.

They may be charged separately per adult and child, even if you have booked half-board and do not plan to attend.

Check which dates they apply to and whether they are included in the displayed total.

The Tourism Environmental Sustainability Levy

Since 1 January 2026, the levy has been 75 Seychellois rupees (SCR) (~ 4.50 EUR / 5 USD), per person per night at medium-sized hotels with 25-50 rooms, and 100 SCR (~ 6 EUR / 7 USD), per person per night at hotels with more than 50 rooms, and at yachts and island resorts.

Small hotels and guesthouses with 1-24 rooms no longer charge it, and children aged 12 and under are exempt.

Your hotel collects the levy and lists it on your bill, but it may not appear in the headline rate shown online.

For two adults staying seven nights at a large hotel or island resort, it adds another 1,400 SCR (~ 85 EUR / 95 USD) to the bill.

VAT and service charges

Seychelles has a standard VAT rate of 15%, while many luxury resorts also add a 10% service charge.

Some booking platforms include both in the displayed total, while others add them later.

Look for wording such as “subject to taxes and service charge”, and check whether they also apply to meals, drinks, spa treatments and transfers.

Transfers to private islands

A room rate at a private-island resort may not include the compulsory domestic flight, helicopter or boat transfer needed to reach it.

Ask for the return transfer price for everyone travelling, as well as the schedule, luggage allowance and connection time required after your international flight.

A beautiful villa is not particularly useful if the last boat has already gone.

Meal plans and dining

Half-board, full-board and all-inclusive can mean different things from one resort to another.

Check which restaurants are included, whether drinks cost extra and whether supplements apply at speciality restaurants.

This matters most on private islands and at secluded resorts, where walking elsewhere for dinner is not an option.

If you have dietary requirements, contact the hotel before booking to make sure suitable meals will be available throughout your stay.

Room categories and what’s included

“Ocean view”, “seafront” and “beachfront” do not necessarily mean the same thing.

Neither do “pool villa” and “villa with pool access”.

Check the exact location, pool type, privacy and included facilities before paying considerably more for an upgrade.

Resort maps and recent room photographs can be more revealing than the room name.

Deposits and cancellation conditions

Special offers can require a substantial deposit or become non-refundable well before arrival.

Private-island transfers may have separate cancellation conditions, too.

Compare flexible and non-refundable rates carefully, particularly if you are booking far ahead or combining several islands.

Finally, if you are booking a honeymoon package, ask which benefits apply to your dates and whether a marriage certificate is required.

Packages and what they include can change more quickly than the villas do.

Choose STORY if you want five-star facilities but would still like to walk out for dinner rather than remain inside a secluded compound.

Savoy Seychelles Resort & Spa – Where we stayed at Beau Vallon

We stayed at Savoy Seychelles Resort & Spa (adlink) after an overnight flight and appreciated the large room, comfortable bed and spacious balcony.

The resort opens straight onto Beau Vallon and has a large pool, several restaurants and a spa.

It’s not Mahé’s most private luxury hotel, but the beach and surrounding area make it one of the easiest places to stay without relying on the resort for everything.

Avani+ Barbarons Seychelles – A fully refreshed west-coast resort

Avani+ Barbarons Seychelles (adlink) reopened in June 2025 after a full refurbishment.

Constance Lemuria (adlink) combines a multi-level pool, spa, restaurants and an 18-hole golf course with access to Anse Georgette.

We walked through the resort to visit the beach and it is as good as the photographs. We would love to stay here one day.

The suites are located in the gardens near the beaches, while private-pool villas offer more space.

Le Duc de Praslin (adlink) is located just behind the long beach at Anse Volbert.

We stayed two nights at Acajou Beach Resort (adlink) and enjoyed being right on Anse Volbert, the pool and the food.

Instead, it offers a comfortable beachfront stay in one of Praslin’s most convenient areas, often at a more approachable price than the five-star resorts.

Coco de Mer Hotel and Black Parrot Suites – Quiet and more affordable

We only stayed one night at Coco de Mer Hotel (adlink), but the quiet waterfront setting made us wish we had stayed longer.

The hotel has two beaches, pools and a little island reached by a wooden walkway.

Black Parrot Suites is the adults-only section of the hotel, with its own pool and a more exclusive atmosphere.

This is a good middle ground between Praslin’s large luxury resorts and its simpler guesthouses.

La Digue does not have the same conventional five-star selection as Mahé or Praslin, which is part of its charm.

The best luxury hotels on La Digue are smaller, and some are better described as high-end boutique or self-catering stays.

We stayed our first two nights at Le Repaire Boutique Hotel (adlink) and loved the relaxed communal spaces, carefully put-together rooms and beachfront setting.

Le Repaire is not ultra-luxury, but it remains one of our favourite romantic hotels in Seychelles because it fits La Digue so well.

Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel – A small hotel with an oceanfront pool

Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel (adlink) is beside Le Repaire and offers a similarly intimate scale, but with its pool right above the sea.

At some tides there is barely any beach in front, although the sea is still just outside and the central location is useful.

Choose it for an intimate boutique stay, a stylish pool and easy access to La Passe rather than a long resort beach.

Domaine Les Rochers (adlink) has just two bungalows and four apartments in a tropical garden in the middle of La Passe.
